Elizabeth O’Bagy, Syria Researcher Cited By Kerry And McCain In Hearings, Fired For Ph.D Claim

What is more outrageous is that the US had justified their case for war by relying on an ‘expert’ who only had partial knowledge of Syrian opposition groups by being embedded with them. She was perhaps naive to think she could bank on the Syrian conflict and build her career, but the ones who should be held responsible are political officials in the State Department. For an empire, it is pretty pathetic to use biased propaganda, paid for by the Syrian opposition and present it as ‘objective expert’ knowledge on Syria and the Syrian conflict.  The responsibility lies not only with Ms. O’Bagy who willingly intended to sell the war, but more so with the American State Department and the Institute for the Study of War as her institutional backers.
