Egypt Minister hails saving from smart-card system for bread distribution

This new system of determining access to bread by the vast majority of Egyptians will only increase poverty levels given that most families’ staple is bread. Savings for government could only mean more starving Egyptians.

“Under the scheme, smart-card holders are allowed five loaves per family member per day, a number that officials hope can be reduced.”
